The brief:
Sweet Projects carried out the construction of two new heat substations comprising of a single storey building, containing the mechanical and electrical equipment to feed the local district heating network, supplying residential dwellings and commercial buildings in the local area.
The construction team worked closely with the local authorities to ensure that all safety measures were taken into account and that the site was kept tidy and safe for nearby pedestrians and motorists alike. The heat substations were designed to be energy-efficient and sustainable, with a focus on reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy sources.
Key challenges:
- Working on two site locations concurrently approx. half a mile apart
- Minimising disruption to existing residents
- Restricted site area and storage restrictions

- Staggered and prioritised just-in-time deliveries to overcome busy school periods
- Working closely with Therma Mech to provide internal access on time for mechanical and electrical installation to proceed
