Roy joined Sweet Projects as Technical Director in October 2023, bringing more than 35 years of industry experience across various sectors, including high technology manufacturing, clean-room environments, life sciences and nuclear decommissioning.
He is an experienced and process-driven Chartered Engineer with a focus for innovation, and a track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary design and engineering departments for multi-million-pound projects within the UK and across EMEA.
Roy has led design engineering teams for large healthcare, education, and infrastructure projects for highly-regarded consultancy businesses such as White Young Green (Tetra Tech) and Buro Happold, and has spent the last 25 years with Tier-1 contracting organisations such as M+W Group/Exyte, ISG and, most recently, NG Bailey.
He held the position of Engineering Director at both UK and EMEA level at M+W Group/Exyte, where he championed commercial awareness and efficiency, and was responsible for several major initiatives including implementing a brand new ‘offshore’ engineering centre in Hyderabad, India, and leading an international multi-disciplinary design and engineering team for the design of a 40,000m2 semiconductor manufacturing facility in Ireland.
Roy is a passionate believer in personal development and has mentored several younger designers, as well as represented the CIBSE at HQ and regional level, where he was Southwest Regional Chairman, Secretary, and committee representative for more than a decade. During this time he was awarded with the CIBSE Bronze Medal for services to the Region, and he is also a CIBSE interviewer for the MCIBSE/CEng grade.
