Abbie Holmes joined Sweet Projects in September 2023. Fresh out of university with a degree in psychology, she has kicked off her career in… construction? But, while it may seem an unlikely match, her background in understanding people and behaviour adds valuable depth to her role as a data analyst. Her ability to analyse data while considering the human context behind the numbers makes this the perfect role for her.
In her first year as an ICT Business Analyst, Abbie has quickly adapted to the fast-paced world of data-driven problem-solving, and she’s thriving. Working within the governance and compliance team, she compiles and interprets data from a wide variety of software platforms to create essential dashboards. Her reports not only highlight potential issues but also guide data-based decisions that shape company operations. Working on a regular drumbeat, her reports keep the teams on track for the week, ensuring everyone is aligned on priorities.
Now over a year into her role, we asked Abbie, ‘What’s so sweet about Sweet?’
- A meaningful mission: “The company’s compassion and community-focused ethos are inspiring. I love our commitment to giving back, and it’s made my transition from psychology to ICT especially rewarding.”
- People-centred problem solving: “I’m always tackling new issues and finding digital solutions to workflow management. My background in psychology helps me see the human side of these challenges and address them in ways that make people’s work smoother and more intuitive. As we grow, optimising data for people as well as processes is key.”
- Lifelong learning: “From coding in Python to learning more about data solution development, Sweet empowers me to grow, with incredible mentorship and support for additional courses.”
Abbie’s ambition? To keep translating data into meaningful insights that support Sweet’s people-first mission. She’s committed to driving digital transformation from the ground up – using her understanding of people and the psychology behind the data to make informed, impactful decisions.
