2024 has been a year of remarkable progress and innovation. As we close out the year, I’m proud to reflect on the challenges we’ve overcome, the milestones we’ve reached, and the transformative work we’ve delivered.
Data centre excellence
We began the year with the successful handover of phase one of our flagship hyperscale data centre in Hayes. Now, phases two and three remain firmly on track, with pre-construction for phase four already underway. This project continues to set industry benchmarks, exemplifying our commitment to excellence in the data centre market.
At Longcross, we’ve made incredible strides toward a Q1 2025 handover, with power-on and key rooms handed over for client commissioning, while maintaining the highest Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) score for the second year running. We’ve overcome challenging logistics, supported sensitive filming with Netflix and earned positive feedback from local residents for the building’s design.
Strength in defence
Our defence business has also thrived this year, delivering high-quality projects that reflect our focus on customer service and exceptional delivery. This positions us to seize new opportunities in the sector as we move into 2025.
Sustainability – impactful initiatives and measurable results
Based on our 2023 baseline, we’ve taken huge strides towards our net zero emissions, developing a comprehensive strategy with clear targets that are already delivering actionable results. At Longcross we’ve removed diesel generators, connecting the site to the national grid to significantly reduce fuel consumption. We’ve also delivered the UK’s Phase 4 Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) audit two years ahead of schedule.
Our circular economy practices have saved 111,090 kgCO2e emissions, while our projects exceeded the 10 per cent Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) target, with green walls enhancing biodiversity and air quality.
Our team also continues its commitment to the communities within which they serve. We supported food banks, raised over £95,000 for charities, and cleared rubbish from 10km of the Grand Union Canal. Alongside our innovations in sustainability, these efforts reinforce our commitment to creating a greener, better future.
Investing in our people and processes
The heart of Sweet Projects is our exceptional team. This year we celebrated numerous professional milestones including two promotions to director. We have also strengthened our technical team with key hires in electrical, mechanical, digital design, and handover documentation management.
This team has since made significant strides in technical excellence, including:
- Achieving BREEAM Excellent ratings for the designs at Longcross and in Hayes.
- Expanding our consultant and designer partner network to ensure the right expertise supports every project.
- Enhancing internal design processes to match our growth across diverse market sectors while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Looking ahead
As we prepare for 2025, we stand ready to build on this momentum, embracing new opportunities and breaking boundaries. With an incredible team, a growing portfolio, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, the future has never been brighter.
Here’s to another year of delivering extraordinary results together.
