Changing plans & adaptability
More than 600 colleagues from across our Union Park site were able to celebrate the festive season inside after December’s weather hit home.
With freezing temperatures and driving rain, the Logistics team worked quickly to overcome the challenge, and make one of the on-site warehouses suitable for the Christmas gathering, to celebrate all the hard work this year to date.
The warehouses are in constant use, but a concerted effort from a number of colleagues meant that the celebrations were able to take place in a partitioned section. “The event went very well,” said Teresa Jakubow, Site Secretary. “The great benefit of holding it in the warehouse was that it was able to hold all the guests at the same time and provide shelter.”
“Conor McLoughlin, Senior Project Manager, and Newton Dsouza, HSE Manager, gave brilliant ‘Safety Stand Down’ speeches thanking everyone for their efforts and acknowledging the milestones reached, with particular focus on the safety aspect at work.”
A quick thank you to our caterers (The Spitting Pig Company) who did an amazing job, with many guests going back for second helpings. We used them in July for our summer event, so they were familiar with the site and quickly set themselves up in the morning to provide succulent halal turkey, freshly cooked vegetables, two vegan/vegetarian options, plus all the trimmings.
And thanks again to our logistics team who made it all possible, on-site.
